Day 3. Today we got started around 2 pm. We prayed for creative flow and gave thanks for all of the beauty which was accomplished on the previous two days. We began with a single goal in mind; have Natasha deliver the last of her pieces and finish the remaining musical drafts.

We spoke of doing 15 pieces and then trimming the album down to 10, however once we finished the tenth track called “Unprepared, But Ready” we knew it was time to stop. The album drafts were complete.

After taking a break for lunch and then a quick nap for me, (long day’s man) we listened to the tracks in the studio and then again in my car while driving along a long stretch of water. (Lake Minnetonka) Perfect! We have captured the essence of what was desired in the beginning, a sweet and lush audio back drop for her exquisite words to ride over.

During this recording process I have been able to revisit the type of recording I did twenty years ago when I created without critique. Create first and fix later. The basic tracks were about setting the ambient mood so initially I did not correct bad notes (yes I played some) nor did I attempt to correct any timing errors, (yes there was some of those as well) I just went where I was led by her words and the moment.

Now we are about to transition, we are moving from the creative to the technical. We finished our session time with creating a tentative album order and with me explaining that the real work starts now! She must deliver a passionate vocal performance and I must capture it at the highest quality level possible! Tomorrow we go Technical!
