Bloggin 365: Day 11

Reminders are wonderful; especially the timely ones that arrive just when it seems that the next move will take you too far.
Sometimes the reminder comes through an image seen. Other times it comes through an overheard conversation with substance and context completely unrelated to the point of value you or I receive.
However it shows up, it registers as the pause point; the information that commandingly requires adjustment before the next move is made.
One such reminder resonated with me while watching the end of a pretty good movie. The movie was Fargo.
Near the end of the movie while driving the captured killer to jail the sheriff made an observation. Referencing the killing of innocent people and the senselessness of it all she says; “all of this for just a little bit of money,” further adding, “and it’s a beautiful day.”
Now in my mind I remove the killer and the story line, then I insert myself and envision the grind I occasional put myself through for what largely amounts to be…….. well, money. I shake my head and receive the reminder.
A drive to be successful has been placed in all of us but if that drive becomes obsession and peace is lost, is anything gained really worth it? Did you miss the beautiful day? This reminder had perfect timing because I was watching the movie as escape, not because I really wanted to see it……….. again. Aaaaaaah big exhale. I didn’t miss the beauty today; I don’t suspect I will miss it tomorrow either but if by chance I do the next reminder will come.
This I am sure of and am thankful for.
God was here today! REL.
